Product Introduction

Prestressing steel strand (commonly known as PC Strand) is a high-carbon steel product consisting of multiple cold-drawn wires spirally wound together. It is a fundamental component in pre-stressed concrete construction, where it is tensioned to impart compressive stresses that counteract tensile loads.

IBC Group supplies a comprehensive range of PC Strand that delivers the ultimate tensile strength and reliability required for critical infrastructure. Our products are manufactured under strict quality controls to ensure consistent performance in bridges, building beams, parking structures, and civil engineering projects worldwide.

Main Use: Reinforcement of Prestressed Concrete Structures

Surface: Black ,Hot Dipped Galvanized

Packing: in Bundles with Water Proof Plastic Tarpaulin

Delivery Time: 10-30days

Product Composition & Grades

Prestressing steel strand is categorized based on its mechanical properties, relaxation characteristics, and coating:

Low-Relaxation Strand ASTM A416 Grade 270 / BS 5896 Class 2

This is the modern standard for most applications. It undergoes a specialized thermal-mechanical treatment that results in minimal loss of pre-stress over time. It is the preferred choice for virtually all applications including bridges, buildings, and slabs due to its long-term economic and performance benefits.

Stress-Relieved Strand ASTM A416 Grade 250 / BS 5896 Class 1

This traditional type undergoes a simple heat treatment to relieve stresses. It has higher relaxation losses and is largely superseded by low-relaxation strand but may be specified in some older standards or less critical applications.

Epoxy-Coated (Fusion-Bonded) Strand

The steel strand is coated with a layer of epoxy powder for enhanced corrosion protection. It is used in aggressive environments such as highway bridges exposed to de-icing salts, marine structures, and coastal buildings.

Galvanized Strand

The strand is hot-dip galvanized (zinc-coated) for robust corrosion resistance. It is specified for applications where long-term exposure to corrosive elements is expected and where the structure is directly exposed, such as in cable-stayed bridges or tie-backs.

Uncoated Strand

This is the standard, bare strand. It is used in protected environments or when the concrete cover is sufficient to prevent corrosion, such as in indoor building beams or slabs.
01
What certifications do your prestressing strands hold?
Our strands are manufactured in compliance with and certified to major international standards, including ASTM A416 (USA), EN 10138 (Europe), and GB/T 5224 (China). We also maintain ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification, ensuring consistent quality from raw material to finished product. Certificates and Mill Test Reports are available upon request.
02
Do you provide Mill Test Certificates (MTC) or Chemical and Physical Property reports?
Yes, absolutely. A comprehensive Mill Test Certificate from an independent, accredited laboratory is provided with every shipment. This MTC includes verified data on chemical composition, tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, relaxation, and dimensional properties.
03
What is the standard packaging for your prestressing strand?
To prevent corrosion and damage during transit and storage, our strand is coiled on durable, solid steel reels and securely fastened. Each coil is then wrapped in a high-quality, waterproof plastic sheet. For export, we can provide special export packaging with additional weatherproofing and reinforcement to ensure safe ocean freight travel.
04
What is the typical lead time and what is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our standard lead time for common grades and sizes is 2-4 weeks after order confirmation. We offer flexible MOQs to suit project needs; please contact our sales team for a specific quote. We can accommodate large project orders and offer competitive pricing for volume purchases.
05
Can you supply custom lengths or special coatings?
Yes, we specialize in providing customized solutions. We can supply strand cut to precise lengths for your project. We also offer strands with optional epoxy coating or galvanized coating for applications in highly corrosive environments (e.g., marine structures, bridges in cold climates with heavy de-icing salts).
06
Do you have experience supplying for large-scale infrastructure projects?
Yes, we have a proven track record of supplying high-quality prestressing strand for major international projects, including long-span bridges, high-rise buildings, nuclear power plants, and hydroelectric dams.
