Product Introduction

PPGI (Pre-Painted Galvanized Steel) Coil is produced on a continuous coil-coating line. It starts with a corrosion-resistant hot-dip galvanized (GI) steel substrate, which is then pre-treated and coated with high-performance paints (e.g., Polyester, PVDF).

This process allows for extensive customization. The paint thickness can be tailored across a wide range (typically 10-70μm for the top coat) to meet specific durability needs and cost targets. Additionally, a vast array of colors is available according to standard RAL charts or custom samples. We can also produce coils with special decorative patterns, such as wood grain, stone, brick, or camouflage, greatly expanding design possibilities.

Coating Thickness & Durability Options:

· Standard Grade: Top coat 15-20 μm, Back coat 5-7 μm.

· Commercial/Industrial Grade: Top coat 20-25 μm, Back coat 7-10 μm.

· Premium/Heavy-Duty Grade: Top coat 25 μm to 70 μm.

Professional Coating Systems at a Glance
Coating Expected Service Life* Best For
Polyester (PE) 5-8 Years Most cost-effective solution for interior & general construction in mild climates.
Silicone Modified Polyester (SMP) 10-15 Years Enhanced UV resistance for residential roofing and siding in moderate coastal/industrial areas.
High-Durability Polyester (HDP) 15-20+ Years Superior weather & scratch resistance for demanding architectural and industrial applications.
PVDF (70% resin) 20-30+ Years Maximum durability for premium architecture and severe industrial/coastal environments.

Prepainted Steel Coil - Base Steel Mechanical Properties

The following table lists the minimum or typical mechanical properties of common base steel grades used for our PPGI coils.

Steel Grade Yield Strength (Rp0.2) Min. Tensile Strength (Rm) Min. Elongation (A80 mm) Min. Typical Application
DX51D / SGCC 140 – 280 MPa* 270 MPa 22 % Commercial quality, general forming
S220GD 220 MPa 300 MPa 15 % Structural, light load-bearing
S250GD 250 MPa 330 MPa 15 % Structural, general load-bearing
S280GD / SGC340 280 MPa 360 MPa 14 % Structural, higher strength requirement
S320GD / SGC400 320 MPa 390 MPa 13 % Structural, high strength
SGC440 340 MPa 440 MPa 12 % Structural, very high strength

PPGI vs PPGL Coils

At our advanced prepainted coil factory, we specialize in both PPGI and PPGL, the two primary types of pre-painted metal coils. The key difference lies in the substrate: PPGI uses galvanized steel for superior strength, while PPGL uses aluminum for lightweight corrosion resistance. Choosing the right product depends on your specific project requirements for durability, weight, and environment.
01
Base Material
PPGI: Galvanized steel coil, offering high structural strength.
PPGL: Aluminum coil, providing a lightweight alternative.
02
Primary Application
PPGI: Ideal for industrial roofing, siding, and structural components.
PPGL: Preferred for architectural cladding, signage, and decorative interiors.
03
Corrosion Resistance
PPGI: Zinc layer provides sacrificial anode protection against rust.
PPGL: Aluminum’s natural oxide layer offers excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance.
04
Formability & Finish
PPGI: Excellent for roll-forming, available in standard and custom colors/patterns.
PPGL: Easier to cut and shape, can achieve very smooth, uniform painted finishes.
