Product Introduction

Cold drawn steel bar is a kind of steel bar product processed by cold drawing process. In the cold drawing process, the low carbon steel bar is placed on the cold drawing machine, and through the way of strong drawing to make it through the mold hole smaller than the diameter of the original steel bar 0.5 to 1.0 mm, so that the steel bar is drawn into a smaller diameter steel wire.
In this process, the steel bar will produce transverse compression and longitudinal tensile, and its internal lattice will slip, so that the tensile strength is significantly increased, usually by 50% to 90%, but the plasticity will be reduced, and the hardness will be increased.

Product Process

The production process of Carbon Steel cold-drawn Bar is a precise technology involving multiple steps, aiming to improve the mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy of the material through Cold drawing technology.

Preparation of raw materials
Material selection: Choose carbon steel materials that meet production requirements (with good machinability and mechanical properties).
Cutting and pretreatment: The selected carbon steel materials are cut to the required length and undergo necessary pretreatment, such as removing surface oxide scale, oil stains, etc., to ensure the quality of subsequent processing.

Heat treatment
Heating: Heat the cut carbon steel to an appropriate temperature to soften the material and enhance its plasticity.
Quenching and tempering: According to specific requirements, the heated material is subjected to quenching and tempering treatment to adjust its hardness and toughness.

Cold drawing processing
Mold design: Design and manufacture suitable cold drawing molds based on the required bar size and shape.
Cold drawing operation: The pre-treated material is drawn through a cold drawing die. During this process, the material undergoes intense plastic deformation, thereby refining the grains, enhancing strength and hardness.
Multiple cold drawing operations: To achieve the required dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties, multiple cold drawing operations are usually required. The cold drawn bars need to undergo necessary annealing treatment to eliminate internal stress and restore the plasticity of the material.

Other processing
Surface treatment: After straightening and cutting, it undergoes polishing, acid washing or sandblasting and other treatments to enhance its surface quality and corrosion resistance.
Inspection and Testing: IBC Group conducts strict inspection and testing on the final products, including dimensional measurement, mechanical property testing, and chemical composition analysis, etc., to ensure that the product quality meets the standards.
